Drupal 8 Development

Drupal is an excellent framework for building complex (or simple) web applications. To the developer who knows when to leverage its APIs and its truly massive set of existing contributed modules and functionality, it becomes a platform where applications can be built and brought to a stable state in staggeringly short amount of time. In this course, we’ll look at developing applications in Drupal; leveraging Drupal core; evaluating, integrating and extending contributed modules; and writing and managing our own modules and configuration. What we’ll be covering:

  • What’s changed in Drupal 8
  • How to think like a Drupal 8 developer
  • Intergrating with Drupal core
  • Symphony components
  • Evaluating and integrating with contributed modules.
  • Best practices for extending contributed modules.
  • Drupal 8 module development
  • Managing custom code in Drupal 8

We recommend (but in no way require) that participants come with some knowledge of the following:

  • Installing software on on Windows, Linux or Mac.
  • Basic programming knowledge.

This is a two full days training session and pre-registration is required for all attendees.

This is a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) session. We recommend bringing a laptop running a modern operating system (e.g. Windows 7 or later, OS X 10.10 or later, Ubuntu 14.04 or later). We do have a spare Windows 7 laptop available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

There is free parking available both in the parking lot as well as on the street. We’ll take a 45 minute break for lunch and a 15 minute morning and afternoon break as well. Lunch is included.
